Championships Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What is the requirement for MidCal Spirit wear?
A. MidCal requires Championship competitors to wear a MidCal Black Polo w/ Khaki color pants, shorts or long skirt for opening and closing ceremonies. During competitions a polo shirt of your choice may be worn. MidCal will offer a '09 Championship Polo for purchase for use any time during Championships, except opening and closing ceremonies.

Q. How will the opening ceremony work with different arrival dates?
A. Opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday, August 11th, all competitors are encouraged to participate, but not required.
Closing ceremony will occur at the conclusion of each discipline.

Q. Are MidCal competitors required to stay in the same hotel ?
A. No.  Competitors may make their own lodging arrangements, based on their personal needs.

Q. Will there be individual entry form?
A. Yes, individual entry forms will be emailed to all qualified competitors, the information you provide will help create team information and MidCal combined entry data to the rally organizer.

Q. Will MidCal competitors be on the same team?
A. Not necessarily, if MidCal does not fill a team, a scratch rider may be assigned by Rally organizers. If we only have one or two competitors for a particular discipline or division, MidCal competitors may be assigned to another team. These decisions are made by Rally Organizers.

Q. Will we need team coaches?
A. Show Jumpers will require a coach for warm up, course walking and pre-rally jump training. Coaches maybe shared between teams. Competitors are responsible for coach fees.

Q. Offsite Stable Options -- In the event we are unable to arrive early or need to depart later than the closing of each discipline, what are the options for offsite stabling?
A. Early arrival and late departure offsite stabling options are:

The Back Forte:  Owned by Joe & Stacy Forte, they offer stalls to rent for $18.00/night for Pony Club members plus shavings. Aproximately 10 minutes from Donida Farms.  Specific arrangements regarding riding or turn out can be made directly with Stacy.
http://www.theback40.net/

Rainbow Meadow Farm:  Located 65 miles from Donida Farm, Auburn WA.  Stalls are available for $20.00 night
http://www.rainbowmeadowfarm.com/RMFAbout%20the%20Farm.htm

Q. When will the commercial hauler depart and arrive in Washington?
A. Details regarding the arrangements for commercial hauling will be forthcoming. MidCal will need at least 5 horses to travel by a commercial hauler for a special price break.
Once all the entry forms are returned and hauling preferences are confirmed, arrangements for a MidCal hauler will be communicated, including departure and arrival dates.

Q. When will spirit wear items be available?
A. Spirit wear items will be available by July 31st.  Pick up arrangements will be communicated prior to July 31st.

Middle California Region Qualifying information

Attention Middle California Members, Parents and Club Officers:
Before any Qualifying Rally, competitors who wish to be considered for a championships team fill out an "Intent to Qualify" form and submit this at the same time as their rally entry paperwork.  The form can be found here

Competitors must meet the age and rating criteria for championships given in the relevant discipline rule book.

After the rally, the Rally Organizer passes the Intent to Qualify forms and rally score sheets on to the Regional Supervisor (RS). Competitors who submitted an Intent to Qualify form and meet the applicable eligibility criteria are then ranked according to their individual score.

Each region has been invited to send two teams in each division to the 2009 USPC Pacific Coast Championships. The highest eight ranked competitors in each division will be placed on a regional team. Divisions with fewer qualifiers than a full team will be placed on a Championships scramble team.

The highest eight ranked in each division will be notified of their opportunity to represent Middle California at Western Championships. Each notified qualifier will have two weeks to accept or decline a place on a team. If any qualifier declines a position on a team, his/her place will be offered to the next qualifier on the list. For all disciplines except Games, the teams sent to championships consist of the four highest ranked competitors in each division. If there are not enough qualified competitors to make a full regional team (3 or 4 members), a partial team or individual will be entered and the championships organizer will match this partial team or individual with other partial teams and individuals from other regions to make a "scratch" team at championships. In Games, which is played as a team, the whole team that places highest in each division is usually the team that is selected to represent the region at championships.  Exceptions to this rule are documented on pages 87 - 90 of the 2006 Games Rule Book, http://www.ponyclub.org/pdfs/rulebooks/RulebooksGames2006.pdf.

The Middle California Regional Polices are published here.

The policy on qualifying is in Section VI on page  of the document.

The Intent to Qualify form is posted on the web site with information and entry forms for each rally. The District Commissioner is required to sign this form. Before signing the form please check the relevant discipline Rule Book to make sure that the competitor meets the age and rating eligibility criteria for Championships. Age and rating criteria are different for every discipline, and may vary for the different levels within the discipline.
